Can't boot from sd card (pics inside)

Sun Jan 27, 2013 10:08 pm

So I am using Linux Mint 13

I got an sd card that I made sure was compatible, I used a tool to format it into a Master Boot Record, then into FAT.

I use the command line and did: dd bs=4M if=~/Downloads/2012-wheezy.img of=/dev/sdb1

it writes, and it is done but when I go and put it in my unit, it doesn't work. Only the solid red light. I have followed this guide:
http://elinux.org/RPi_Easy_SD_Card_Setu ... nd_line.29
with the latest version of the .zip file and even ran the checksums.

So I pop it back into my laptop and this is what I see:

Can anyone help me out?

Hmm, I wasn't aware of a Mint release for the Pi.

Read the instructions again.

You typed:

Code: Select all

dd bs=4M if=~/Downloads/2012-wheezy.img of=/dev/sdb1
The instructions say:

Code: Select all

dd bs=4M if=~/2012-12-16-wheezy-raspbian.img of=/dev/sdd
You have correctly changed "sdd" to "sdb" and the name of the downloaded file, but you have erroneously added a "1" on the end.

(Don't worry, a lot of people make that mistake :) )
