Reclaim SD Card

Mon Jan 14, 2013 5:09 pm

I started out using a 4 gig card for my Pi and recently purchased a 64 gig one so that I can put some media on it. I haven't gotten to that yet, but I'm wondering how I can reclaim the space on my 4 gig card since it's once showing 33 megabytes of usable memory. And help would be appreciated.

You are probably only viewing the boot partition of the sd card. The linux OS is on another partition that windows cannot see.

df -h
on the Pi to see the size of all partitions

The easist way is to stick the card in a Camera and Format it.

If you don't have a camera (a growing number of people use cell phones instead now)...

The way I do it is to run the free version of EaseUS Partition Master. Once the two partions are collapsed into one you can format it again for Windows, etc.
