Documentation for new raspi-config option?

Fri Oct 30, 2020 7:00 pm

I like the new layout (takes some getting used to) but I noticed a new Fan Control option under Performance, and can't find any documentation for it? Any pointers?

It is just gpio-fan. Set the GPIO that controls the fan and set the temperature threshold for when the GPIO turns on. Directly powering a fan from the GPIO is likely to kill the GPIO pin.

From /boot/overlays/README

Name: gpio-fan
Info: Configure a GPIO pin to control a cooling fan.
Load: dtoverlay=gpio-fan,<param>=<val>
Params:
gpiopin GPIO used to control the fan (default 12)
temp Temperature at which the fan switches on, in millicelcius (default 55000)
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.
