best power supply for model b raspberry pi

Sat Jan 05, 2013 10:03 pm

hello, I've got everything to run my raspberry pi except a power supply

what is the best power supply for the model b version that won't flake out on me, i'm going to have a keyboard & mouse connected to the raspberry pi so i need enough power to keep everything powered without losing stability

i'm quite confused with what is the recommended power supply because i've read that everybody uses something different

would appreciate the help

Especially If you are in the US, I would recommend getting the one from adafruit.

It does not come with any cable. It has a regular USB port, so if you do not have a USB to microUSB cable from a phone, you will need one.

I don't know if you have Rayovac in stores north of the border (I think they are in Wisconsin), but I got an Adafruit 501 through element14/newark and have also been using a Rayovac USB Wall Charger on another that seems to work as well. http://www.rayovac.com/Products/Recharg ... arger.aspx

Not having a micro USB cable, I just went with the 1A power adapter from Newark:

It's a single unit with the cable and adapter as one piece. So far it's been working out great, and at that price I couldn't argue.

If it is 5v, then yes it will.
You basically need any power adapter with a micro usb end, and requiring it to be 5v, and 750mA or more (1A is 1000mA, so it is suitable)
