clunk on audio

Sat Jan 05, 2013 7:12 pm

Is there any way to stop the huge clunk which almost blows the cones out of the speaker when something starts to play a sound?

It's the same on both of my pi(s), so I guess it must be the same for everyone.

I'm using the 3.5mm jack, as my monitor doesn't have sound.

The Pi on-board audio uses PWM instead of DAC unfortunately it "pops" when the hardware is activated and deactivated.
To avoid the popping use the HDMI audio output or a compatible USB audio dongle (i.e. CM108 chipset).
