Sun May 03, 2020 5:10 pm

Hi, I'm having near no success with getting my Gert666 VGA board to work with my Pi3 but worse than taht is having to recopy my 'good' SD image everytime i alter my config.txt file when my Pi doesn't boot. I have copies but im getting worn down by the process so am asking can I edit my config file any other way when i cannot boot my OS up anyone?

thanks. Sean

The config file is in the FAT32 partition which can be seen by Windows and Mac computers.

If you don't want to keep taking your SD card out to edit config.txt on a windows PC, you could use PINN (or NOOBS) to install your OS. When it doesn't boot, you can edit config.txt from within PINN/NOOBS, then boot straight into it.
It's also a useful method when trying to adjust overclocking settings.

:( No dice with that unfortunately, maybe co's i'm using Noobs and it only displays the Recovery partition (i think), definitely no sign of my config file in any boot folder in the visible FAT32 partition.

I've got to stick with noobs as it has some auto startups that are key to my audio setup. What a shame, it's dragging me down copying cards relentlessly until i can find my way through with my Gert board. Any other help or pointers apreciated if anyone can suggest.

NoobS / PiNN are completely different to standalone Raspbian Buster:

You didn't say you were already using noobs!

In which case, boot into noobs, press shift, highlight your OS and select Edit config file. Change your config file as you want, and exit noobs into your OS. No need to keep rewriting your OS.
This is what I was trying to explain above
