First Setup Failure

Wed Apr 29, 2020 2:44 pm

Hi All,

I'm trying to setup my raspberry pi which is newly purchased.Materials are the below came with box
-Raspberry Pi Model 4B
-Raspbian OS installed 32GB SD Card
-HDMI Cable
-Power adaptor
.....etc.

When i setup everything just like it must be,i can't see any booting process or any light in my monitors.I used a Vortex Monitor and Samsung Montior, but both of them doesn't show me nothing.....there is no any light or booting process output in the screens when i power on my raspberry

-SD Card has Rasbian OS and it's correctly installed
-Power connection and HDMI Connection is very well connected
-When i first time power on Raspberry PI, ACT led is consecutively blinking green for 3 minutes, and then there is no more green light on ACT led

And i ordered second SD card which has Rasbian installed and still same...

What do you recommend me to find what is problem ? I really needs your help

When the Pi is plugged in the red LED should come on and stay on. The green LED flashes irregularly at first then settles down and you might not notice any more activity. So it sounds like your Pi is booting.
Do you have the Pi connected to a router by Ethernet cable? Do you have a PC or other computer? If so, take a look at the router's admin pages to see if the Pi is connected to the network.

Once you are sure the Pi is working you can move on to diagnosing any HDMI problem.

What HDMI cable/adapter are you using? It should be plugged in to the socket closest to the USB C power socket.

Where did you get the SD card with Raspbian installed?

Note that Raspbian is a free download and you can always overwrite the SD card to get a new, up to date installation, no need to buy a new SD card each time. It's good to have a spare though for experimenting.

I notice from your first post that the uSD card is a 32Gb one. Whilst I personally have not yet had any issues with several different brands/samples** of of that size there have been a few (<6 IIRC) threads started where there have been issues. So what make/type of card was it? Did you install Raspbian (or, maybe, the NOOBS installer) yourself (if so how, physically)? Is the card uSDHC or uSDXC?
Trev.
** As shown here: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_p ... cards.html (and I've recently acquired and used two more Verbatim samples)
Still running Raspbian Jessie or Stretch on some older Pi's (an A, B1, 2xB2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W, 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, and a A+) but Buster on the P4B's. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm

if your monitors resolution is 1366x768, there is a bug in pi, search the forum for the fix.

Hi All,

Thanks for your attention,

I'm using sdhc card,.i bought SD cards with rasbian via a raspberry pi distributor, also i tested with 3rd sd card.i don't think there is a problem about images or sd card reading process.Ethernet cable is connected to raspberry pi,no problem. As monitor i have different resolution than 1366x768...monitor resolution not a problem.

When i power on raspberry pi after random blinking for a while,it turns regular blinking process (1 blink each seconds)

Basically it seems it's booting but there is nothing on the monitor.....i'm using 1 m HDMI - microHDMI cable and Samsun S22F350FHU monitor

Your monitor has both HDMI and VGA inputs. Ensure that you turn on the monitor and select HDMI input before powering on the RPi.

Hi.

Monitor automatically searches any input every 2 seconds from HDMI & VGA respectively.

According to who, or what guide? Again you don't include details that might be needed.

How do you know it's correctly installed? Did you install it yourself (and how) or was it pre-installed?

You'd be surprised how many pre-installed cards come with really old versions of Raspbian or NOOBS.

Glad you think so. I'd like more details...

I recommend you stop ordering pre-installed cards and make your own.

Go to the official downloads page and get the Raspberry Pi Imager utility, then use that to put Raspbian in your card.

It might also help to fill in the missing details of your post. For example, there are know issues between the Raspberry Pi 4B and monitors with 1366x768 resolution. If you want help troubleshooting a system, we need details.
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups...and where is that annoying music coming from?

Hi All,

I've installed 3 times ARM Images from the internet sources,i tried with Kali and Rasbian - NOOBS
I worked with PI before i know how it works,

Last test it seems it's booting as i mentioned before after a period of random blinking green led blinks regularly, however there is nothing in the montior.

Correct HDMI cable has been used as mentioned in Raspberrypi.org
Monitor automatically searches any input every 2 seconds from HDMI & VGA respectively.

It seems there is a problem between pi's microHDMI input and Montior

As in the Sticky boot up with nothing attached and no SD Card inserted, output / LED Flashing ??
