Pi 4 MicroSD card slot loose

Sun Apr 19, 2020 3:41 am

Hey,

I bought a Pi at Microcenter and it arrived with a broken SD card slot, the back two connections are loose and so it hangs. I've tried gluing it but it always breaks free. The interesting thing is I can boot it and everything works fine. This combined with the Coronavirus makes me not want to go through the hassle of returning and getting a new one. Is this something to worry about if everything is working or should I do something to ensure I can continue to use it.

If you need more info I am happy to provide,

Thanks!

... the back two connections ...
A close-up picture might help.

If you mean what I think you mean, then they're just holding the SD slot in place, so there shouldn't be a problem, at least initially.
However, as time passes, stress will be put on the actual connections, so they could fail.

They should have been soldered, and the ideal fix would be to solder them properly.
But glue could work - provided it's decent glue. I would suggest an epoxy resin such as Araldite. What glue did you try?
