CPC RPI-B-KIT2 - No Worky

Hi All,

Second RPI-B-KIT2 from CPC - not working. I've managed to avoid the PSU supplied as it does not power the Pi. I routed the power lead into the supplied USB hub and it powered up fine. After boot, the mouse dows not glow and the keyboard has no effect on the system.

This is the second RPI-B-KIT2 system I've had and the second one that will not respond to the keyboard. At least the mouse glowed in the first one. Now I boot and get stuck in "Raspi-config" as the keyboard cannot change any of the options or even proceed with defaults. At least the first one sometimes would respond to keys for 2-3 presses after about 3-4 seconds each key.

However, the first one was no more use than this one. Is it something I'm doing? Is the RPI-B-KIT2 a piece of rubbish? Where do you guys with working Pis get your stuff?

Have you measured the Voltage between TP1 and TP2 on the RPi Board? If it is less than 4.75V then you almost certainly have Power problems.

Try connecting the Keyboard and Mouse to the POWERED Hub and power the RPi vis the upstream USB cable from the Hub to the RPi. The only other connection to the RPi would be the HDMI Cable. If you are using a WiFi dongle, plug it into the Hub. DO NOT use the MicroUSB PSU.

When you connect power to the Hub, the RPi should boot up and if you still have problems with the Ketboard and Mouse, chech the TPI to TP2 Voltage and report here.

Thanks wheel nut,

I did not want to get involved in H/W diagnostics on a new product. One slip with a test probe and it becomes my expense. I sent back the second one to CPC and bought one over the counter at Maplins. Worked first time. I think they must try out/test their vended configuration. :-)
