Pi Zero W no WIFI

Sat Nov 30, 2019 7:23 pm

I installed latest Noobs and it didn't ask for the WIFI credentials. There are no networks shown under the icon at the top toolbar, the icon shows disconnected. Is my Zero W broken? How do I connect to WIFI? Also there's no BT icon.

Thanks

So I did the following:

sudo iwlist wlan0 response: "wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning"

then I added my network to /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf per:
network={ssid= " "
psk=" "
}

and then ran sudo wpa_cli reconfigure response: "Failed to connect to non-global ctrl_ifname: (nil) error: no such file or directory

And nothing changed even after reboot. There's no Bluetooth and no WIFI. Any advice? Thanks.

Are you sure it's a Zero W?

What does

Code: Select all

cat /proc/cpuinfo
From a terminal produce?

Well there's a long list that I can't copy easily so I took photos:

And I can't reduce the photo size easily right now (it won't let me upload them, but they're only 1-2MB !) So I put them here:

I saw this other thread on the issue:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... ?p=1132553

But my Pi does think it's a RPi0W I think from the command responses...

The info you posted says your Pi is a Pi Zero, not a Pi Zero W. Check revision code here

So no built in wifi.

According to my math that's a Zero not a Zero W, ergo no WiFi BT available.

Thanks I had it in a case and couldn't see the back clearly. The thing is, I have an ORIGINAL RPI Zero, the one with the Type A USB connector at the end instead of the camera connector. And the zero I THOUGHT was a zero W has the camera instead of the USB. So I thought it was a W because I didn't know they made a version with the camera and no WIFI. So, Thanks Again!

There is no such device. It's true the original Zero didn't have a camera connector, but it didn't have a USB type A connector either.

OK you got me again, I have the original zero mounted on a USB hub and for some reason I've thought the connector was on the Pi and not the hub. See 5 additional photos on Drive:

Don't sweat it, in 10 years or so I'll be adamant that I had a 3b+ and a 4B4g with all the ports at the rear and uSD access at the front.

And I do but the cases they're in aren't produced by the RPT/RPF.
