Installing and using KDE Plasma

Sat Oct 26, 2019 5:02 am

I want to use the KDE Plasma environment on my new Pi4 with Raspbian. I used the package manager to install kde-plasma-desktop, but now I don't what to do next. When I restart, my session is still under the default Raspbian environment. Can anyone help?

Hey, there!

In order to use kde plasma on a Raspberry Pi, you either:

1) Use fedora 30 kde plasma spin
2)Install kde plasma on Raspbian lite.

Raspbian full doesn't support sessions, so use something else.

Also, when using kde plasma with Raspbian lite, be sure to switch off OpenGL in raspi-config (Advanced -> Experimental OpenGL or something like that).

Have fun!
