Using GPIO Pins that are blocked from a touch screen

Dear community,
I am not really experienced in using my raspberry pi, but willing to change that I decided to try a little DIY-project.
I'd like to controll a few WS2812B LED's with my raspberry pi 3, while still using the touch-function of the 5 inch screen I bought. Luckily the screen doesn't use all GPIOs, but it covers all 5V outputs of my rpi, wich would make it possible to controll the strip, when using an external power supply for the LEDs. But since I only need to power around 6 LEDs, I don't want to use that extra supply.
Now to my question. Would it be possible to "double use" one of the 5V outputs of the raspberry that the screen uses to power the LEDs?
Or could that harm my raspberry or the screen?
