launch executable without prompt

Wed Sep 18, 2019 2:19 am

I used pyInstaller to create an executable from a Python script.
And it works.

I want to run the executable MyProgram by double-clicking on it just like in Windows,
but I always get the prompt This file is executable. Do you want to execute it, run it in a Terminal etc

How do I not get the prompt?

Its in the options for the file manager.

I do not have a machine handy with a GUI but if you open the program and look at its options you will see a tick box that says something along the lines of ‘prompt what to do’.

Sorry it’s a bit vague but it’s 4AM here and my memory is a bit duff :lol:

I did find this - an advanced search (the cog by the search box) on your text and my user name may well find better details...

In Filemanager

[Edit] --> [Preferences] --> [General]

[x] Don't ask options on launch executable file
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated Raspbian Buster w/ Desktop OS.
