Where could I get a case for an older Raspberry Pi please?

Mon Sep 02, 2019 7:08 am

Hello,

I bought a second hand Raspberry Pi and took a delve into the world of Raspberry Pi.

I wanted to build a Media Centre to replace our WD TV Live box which always over heats or has a memory leak.

I've done that now, and the family are getting used to the new interface.

I'm struggling to find a case for it and was wondering whether anyone can help.

It says on the board c 2011.12 which I believe is a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B?

I've looked at various cases that claim they should fit, but they all have the slot for power on the side as apposed to on the end for my model.

Are there cases available, or am I best simply chalking up the knowledge on this one and purchasing a newer Raspberry Pi whereby I'll be able to get a case more easily?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

The Pi 2 Model B has the power on the side https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/ra ... 2-model-b/

If you are up and running, then have a look here to find out the exact model https://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2012/ ... d-version/

Hi.

The only pi to have the power connection on the end is the the original pi some times called the pi 1

Which has only 26 gpio pins and uses a full size SD card.

you may struggle to find a case for it now.

I have a reasonable spare case for that model which you can have for the cost of postage. It depends where in the world you are.

That's for the A model will not be suitable for a B model, because it has a LAN port which is missing on the A model.

If you're in the UK I've got three cases you can have for the price of the postage.

May I also suggest this one:

which I still think looks very cool, laser-cut and etched clear acrylic in a kit form.

Hello all, and thanks for the replies.

Apologies for the delay in replying.

My mistake then, I believed it to be a Pi 2, hence why the cases looked incompatible.

I am based in the UK, so I guess, rpdom (as you replied first), I shall take you up on your offer.

Please let me know how I go about getting in touch as I couldn't find a message facility but I might be being stupid.

The case for that model of RPi is scarce and quite expensive (from where I am)
thus I made my own case using a $1 calling card case.
