Keyboard layout match for official Raspberry Keyboard?

Wed Jul 24, 2019 5:03 pm

Hi,

I purchased the official Raspberry pi keyboard. I'm now trying to find to correct keyboard layout to match this keyboard. The official keyboard is not listed in the list provided in raspi-config. Which one do I select?

Thanks

There are several versions of the official keyboard depending on the country it is expected to be used in. https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/ra ... d-and-hub/

https://www.raspberrypi.org/app/uploads ... -Mouse.pdf is not very helpful.

Raspi-config defaults to "Generic 105-key PC (intl.)" which is not correct because the official rpi keyboard has only 79 keys. Weird that there is no "Rapberry Pi keyboard" in this list.

Try that default. Nothing is going to be damaged if it isn't quite correct.

I've tried that but the keys that I press do not match with the characters that appear. a-z works but shift-3 is # but according to the idication on the keyboard shift-3 is £.

Several issues with key mappings. When "#" key (left to ENTER) is pressed # does not appear. Thus, characters that are indicated on the keys do not appear when pressed. Thus, the default layout (105 keys) does not map well onto the official raspberry pi keyboard.

It's only 79 keys because its missing the number pad that is normally on the right hand side. Try some of the UK layouts. And don't worry about how many keys are listed.

EDIT: I say this because my Logotech K400 has a trackpad where the number pad would be. The default English US 105 key layout works just fine even though I don't have that many keys.

I found the solution. The correct keyboard model for the official Raspberry Pi keyboard (UK version) is Generic 101-key PC, layout: English (UK), and variant: English (UK). You can set these via "Preferences" > "Mouse and Keyboard Settings" > "Keyboard" > "Keyboard Layout".
