Pi 3 B, just a web interface for my 3D printer?

Wed Jul 17, 2019 5:44 pm

I have a 7” touch screen and Pi 3 b, I would like to mount this combination on my 3D printer to use the web interface of my Duet3d printer controller through my Pi. I am almost looking for a KIOSK, the ability to just boot and preferably auto- launch a browser to the Duet3D webserver would be ideal. The only other requirements are the ability to access a local SMB or NFS share where I upload the projects once they are ready to print and functionality of the touchscreen itself.

Can I please get a recommendation for a fast booting build/distro that would be best for this use case?

Thank You,
-RP

I would go with Raspbian Buster or Stretch.

Thank You, I will look at them both. Are they on Noob by chance? Or do I get them direct from the source?

Do not worry about NOOBS
Just head to https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/ and take the Raspbian Buster with desktop download as this gives a basic GUI machine.

Stretch is the older version and is available from http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbi ... 019-04-09/ (it’s archived now).

Edit: Forgot to say use Etcher https://www.balena.io/etcher/ to write the SD. It saves having to format the card and unzip the image
