I have been looking at OSHPARK - but would like to know if there are any other PCB manufacturers in the US (or that have good shipping rates and turn around times to the US - a couple weeks is fine) that you know of, recommend, recommend to avoid, etc...
So far, my PCB design has met or exceeded OSHPARKs minimum requirements and such, and my order is looking to cost about $130 right now based on their price listed when I upload the PCB file from KiCAD. If I remember correctly - I think they also charge another $25 or $30 or so for a setup fee - I'm not sure if that is in the price they are listing or if it's on top of that.
This is for 3 boards. But, I would really like to be able to get a single prototype - even if it's just printed on paper - so I can see for sure what I'm getting before actually ordering the board(s). I would also rather pay a third of this for a single board and I'm not making 3 of these projects - just one - I might would be willing to consider a second so I could have a backup device ready to go in an emergency - but, I'm tried to design my PCB to be easier to repair if needed, so this probably isn't really a big issue.
So, I want a quality board, good pricing, and the option to get a single board - with a very cheap prototype/printout to verify that my PCB is being interpreted correctly.
One problem I see with OSHPARK is that they do show the PCB on screen once you upload it - but it's too small and I can't see how they are handling some of the cutouts/slots. It makes me leary to hit order for $130 or so when I'm not 100% that what I think I'm ordering isn't what they are planning to produce.
I appreciate your input and experience here. I've never ordered a PCB before.
