Need Extent File System (EFS) kernel driver

Sat Apr 13, 2019 8:18 pm

Hi,

I need to somehow get efs filesystem support on my raspi to mount some old SGI IRIX .img files. Debian seems to still have kernel support for the filetype but it's not made it over to the Raspi kernel...not surprised though as just about nobody needs support for this filetype anymore.

My raspi currently acts as a bootp install server and file server for my two SGI machines.

Am I just better off to do a VM install of Debian in this case?

Thank you.

You could boot a live distro on your x86 machine, if you only need temporary access to the image. Less hassle than a VM install, but if you need to access those images frequently, then a VM install would be better.

Or you could rebuild the Raspbian kernel with the support you need.
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups...and where is that annoying music coming from?

Thanks, I only need to grab the files once so I think in this instance a live distro environment is best.

I've just fired up my old HP laptop with Manjaro and it seems to have efs support built in.

Thank you.
