VNC isn't working

After installing a graphical interface on the RaspberryPi I wanted to set up VNC. I had forgotten that "raspi-config" should actually offer that, but it was no longer displayed in my menu.

I typed:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install vnc4server vnc-java
sudo apt-get install xfonts-base
sudo vncpasswd
vncserver
According to the console "raspberrypi: 1 (pi)" was started on the desktop.

It is also a port opened:

Code: Select all

tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:5901 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
Why can not I access the RaspberryPi? I have tried several viewers.

Do you have a monitor / keyboard / mouse attached to the Pi?

If not - can you pop them on and try again? Strange request but I just want to double check some advice I’ve been giving out is still valid and I’m stuck for kit again as my daughter is here (eats, sleeps, borrows bits - such is daddy’s girls role in life)

If you are running Raspbian Stretch you ideally should use RealVNC:
