Raspberry Pi, Ultrasonic Sensor and mini Breadboard

Thu Mar 21, 2019 2:24 pm

Hi to everyone.

I'm new to family of Raspberry Pi and I want to connect a hc-sr04 to raspberry pi with a mini breadboard. Is it possible to connect it, because all the tutorials are using a normal breadboard.

Thanks in advance.

Normally the mini breadboards I have do not have power rails running along the edges but only have column pins.

If its like these then you have no issues - just be careful as to what connects to what (as normal).

This may be of help if folk are new to the mini breadboards https://learn.pimoroni.com/tutorial/170 ... breadboard

Sorry for the big pic from RasPiO - its 10 times life size I think and Google have taken the 'small' off the search tool

Yep. I use mini breadboards for these. The wiring is the same. Here's a site I found that has an image of the breadboard layout for you.

JFI - You can now get Pi friendly ultrasonics that don't need resistors and work from 3.3V supply

I highly recommend using them instead of the old 5V ones

example of a 3.3V one
(note no metal can in-between the sensors)

JFI, there is now a 3.3V version of these available which doesn't need the resistor divider to lower the voltage. It can just be connected straight to the Pi.
