Etcher.img file - What to do?

Thu Jan 10, 2019 11:49 pm

I have come to understand that to "install" software on my Pi I need to use Etcher to move the image to my SD disk, however I am trying to get Etcher installed and after unzipping I ended up with a .AppImage file. I don't really know what the next steps are.

Can someone help?

Thanks,
Matt

You need to install Etcher on a different computer than the Pi.

Do you have a Windows Pc or Mac? If so, download the relevant version of Etcher then install that as a normal program.

Then visit https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/ to select what you want to install on the Pi. Did W load it and use Etcher to create the SD card to go in the Pi.

You may find it worthwhile to go through https://projects.raspberrypi.org/en/pro ... ng-started before jumping in creating operating systems :)

FYI Etcher unzips, wipes the SD Card, formats, copies the image, verifies...

...are you sure what you have downloaded is for the Raspberry Pi ??

Etcher does not install software only Operating Systems !!
