Done some further investigation using my own pi-hole and YouTube,
so here's the example I tested.
advert played at start of YouTube video was plus500.co.uk so I blocked that address using pi-hole and sure enough you can no longer visit the address using your browse but the advert still plays at the start of the video ,
that's because what you are actually seeing is a video playing that contains the advert, in the case of the particular video I chose the advert is actually this video "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eC7dJeK ... e=youtu.be
so to block the advert you would need to block the video address not the advert address , but as each video has its own address it becomes impossible as you would need to block every individual advert video rather than the advert address.
