raspberrypi login

ive hooked my pi up to my tv for the first time. it lights up showing theres power there but on my tv its asking for my raspberrypi login?
anybody know what i should do here

new to this type of stuff btw :)

my suggestion would be to log in ;-) you can find the username/password information for your distro on the download page. Once you log in, if you want to see a traditional graphic environment you can enter "startx" but it doesn't make use of GPU processor on the PI yet so it will be a little slugish depending on what you're trying to do there. If you're comfortable with the bash prompt (the not graphical environment) I would stay out of startx. It's a lot more difficult, but it really helps you learn linux quickly!

note that for security purposes, the characters in raspberry will be invisible
