New Tutorial for Disabling Login.

Fri Aug 17, 2018 3:34 pm

I was wondering how to disable the login on the raspberry pi, but all the tutorials I found were super outdated. Are there any ones for the latest version of raspbian lite?

What do you mean?

I can think of at least two possibilities:

1) disable the 'pi' user from logging in. "man passwd" and look for the word "lock".

2) Prevent pi from automatically logging in on boot. You can disable the boot to desktop via the config program. However, regardless of how you have the "boot to desktop" functionality configured, the system may or may not automatically log in as pi on tty1 - depending on which exact release/update/version of Raspbian you are running.

3) ? There are probably others...

If a post offends you, just put that poster on your foes list, and be done with it (and with them).

To do otherwise, risks being banned.

I'm pretty new, I just need the pi to go straight to the command line after booting, so i don't have to type in the username and password.

Run sudo raspi-config and go to
3 - boot options
B1 - Desktop / CLI
B2 - Console / autologin
