There are a couple of ways to use it.
One way is to solder a stacking header to it, female on bottom male on top. Then put it between your Pi and display. Then maybe put a 90 male on the other GPIO rows.
The other way to do it, like in the picture, is to solder it right to the Pi's GPIO header, down as low as you can get it. Then plug your display in on top of it. Your display will sit a little higher than normal. That will be the most compact way to do it.
