changing to 12-hour clock format stretch lite

Thu Mar 22, 2018 6:48 pm

how is this accomplished? I haven't figured out how to do it....yet. I went through most of the raspi-config options and didn't see anything for changing the clock format from 24 hours to 12.

thanks!

with the LITE version you see a clock?
in the terminal? there you can use

Code: Select all

pi@RPI3:~ $ date
Fri Mar 23 10:47:27 +07 2018
pi@RPI3:~ $ date +"%Y_%m_%d %r"
2018_03_23 10:47:30 AM
pi@RPI3:~ $

on RASPBIAN Desktop menu/headerline
digital clock
mouse right click digital clock settings
change Clock Format from %R to %r

You can display 12 Hr format (One time only).

Code: Select all

date +%r
Or make an alias:

Code: Select all

alias t="date +%r"
Note an alias is not persistent and will be lost on reboot
I don't know how to make the actual date command always display 12 Hr (or why it would be useful).
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.

it is possible if you go to the digital clock and right click and go to digital clock settings and change the R in clock format to a lowercase r
