WiFi Connection lost when booting Pi

Sat Mar 17, 2018 12:54 am

Surfing the net through WiFi was fine then suddenly, this happened:

When I boot / start the Pi, the WiFi connection becomes unstable. I can't connect to the internet whether through phone or laptop but when I shutdown the Pi, everything comes back to normal. I have tried booting and shutting down the Pi, and found out that when the Pi connects to the network, the internet really becomes unstable or lose connection.

Any idea what's the cause? This just happened today. I am using a freshly installed Raspbian Stretch with a few apps installed like kweb etc.

If you can get a connection run sudo apt update; sudo apt -y dist-upgrade. There's been some improvements to WiFi this week. You also MUST have

Code: Select all

country=XX
with a valid ISO 2-char country code in /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf or WiFi will get rfkill'd.

I can't do a sudo apt-get update due to the issue.

For the 'country=xx', do you mean the timezone / locale etc. in raspi config? I made sure I entered the correct option / parameters.

Also, I tried on my other pi, there is no problem with the internet. I have a feeling it has something to do with the timezone / WiFi country etc. because that's the last things I did last night before shutting down the Pi.

EDIT: The country = xx in /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf is set to PH. Which is my country.

I have a feeling I need to re-install the OS just to get this fixed. :(
