moving icons

I have a few icons in the file manager folders that I would like to copy or transfer to the desktop (Wheezy 2012-09-18). Presumably this is dead simple - but so am I!
Any help very welcome.
Kaspin (sorry Kloareg)

I don't use pcmanfm since it changed recently so I'm not sure if it still allows you to paste as a link.
So anyway. Try right clicking on your icon and select copy. Then right click on your desktop and select paste as link. Do you have these options?
I use spacefm which is a fork of pcmanfm and I have those options. Unfortunately, spacefm is not available for download and installation on the raspi, you have to compile and build it yourself. It's worth it though, it leaves pcmanfm for dust in useability and speed

Thanks for that tiiim.
Cut and paste won't work - right click only shows open or properties...
However, I'll try what you suggest (unless an easier solution comes to light beforehand).
Thanks again,
kloareg

Thanks malakai,
Thanks for your suggestion - seemed to work if I could find the filename to copy. Sometimes I got the message cp - omitting directory, so I guess I was not picking the right file name. Anyway, I've now got just about all the icons I need on the desk top, so will move on to the next problem - getting the printer to work...
All the best, kloareg
