working with microphone on raspberry pi2

Fri Feb 16, 2018 11:17 pm

Hello, has anyone worked with this: https://www.element14.com/community/com ... udio-space ?

Is it compatible with raspberry pi 2?

Because I am beginner on raspberry I want to ask, if I can use raspberry as Arduino, meaning to upload code to it and do something... Or should I install an operating system first? I want to record sound basically..

Raspberry Pi is a SBC without an Operating System it will not achieve anything.

Cheapest option is a USB Microphone or if you have a 3.5mm Mic already a £1 USB Sound Card...

Thank you for the info. Because I want to process the sound I will record, is it possible to use software/code in python, that does this, if I use USB microphone? Or it is better to use A/D converter?

Use a cheap USB soundcard. The drivers are included in Raspbian and will get loaded
automatically, this doesn't apply to bare ADC chips.

Thank you. Can I transfer the recorded file in a matrix in python code? In other words can I "see" the recorded file as bytes somehow?

Use numpy and PyAudio together :
