Can you have a wired network connection to the Pi Zero

Thu Jan 25, 2018 8:37 pm

Looking at the Raspberry Pi Zero, I noticed that it does not have a connection for a Network Cable. Is there any way that
I can connected the Pi Zero to one of the Network Connection ports on my router ?

Thanks

Jerry

Simply: by usb hub containing a usb to network port
Less Simply: by usb hub + a usb to network adapter

They look at bit like this one. I don't know whether this one has a pi compatible chipset - so please just use it for information about the sort of thing you can get.

FWIW, some more examples of USB-to-LAN(Ethernet) Adapters tried out with various Pi's, including P0's (with an OTG "shim" uUSB adapter where necessary) can be seen here: http://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi ... pters.html
Trev.
Still running Raspbian Jessie on some older Pi's (an A, B1, B2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W) but Stretch on my 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, A+ and a B2. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm

I have a Pi0 sitting on my desk right now that has a wired network connection. It's running headless, so that is the *only* connection it has, though it has it's own RTC, I use: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=9468 with an OTG adapter added. (It's my NTP server.) There is the minor problem that it costs rather more than the Pi0, itself...

If you haven't purchased the Pi0 already, consider the Pi0W that has wifi (~£9 - less than adding any additonal hardware to a Pi0)

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've found a 3 USB port, 1 Ethernet port hub on the Adafruit web site that seems to be exactly
what I wanted.

Thanks Again

You can use SPI to ethernet boards too: http://raspi.tv/2015/ethernet-on-pi-zer ... on-your-pi

Slower but doesn't tie up the USB port, especially useful if you want to run the zero as a USB gadget.
