How install OpenJDK using tar.gz file - without internet access?

Tue Dec 19, 2017 1:37 am

I have (currently) installed noobs/raspbian (from https://www.raspberrypi.org/...) on to the SD card for use with a raspberry pi 1.

I require to install OpenJDK (at least/probably v8) - however I do not have internet/ethernet access.
Therefore I would like to copy tar.gz file on to SD card (by mounting SD card on to laptop).
I am not sure which tar.gz file to use?
From the jdk.java.net web site, there is:
jdk-8u162-ea-bin-b03-linux-arm32-vfp-hflt-24_oct_2017.tar.gz
Would this be compatible/ok to install?
where would I download tar.gz files from?

thank you

That file looks fine to me but you can also go to: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/ ... 33151.html to get the latest released version.

Are you running NOOBSLITE? Because the Java8 JDK is already installed in the full version and you don't need to install anything.

The OP said
I have (currently) installed noobs/raspbian
So I knew if I said Raspbian lite somebody would say no NOOBS Lite.
