Raspberry Pi 3 connection to a breadboard

Thu Dec 07, 2017 10:29 am

I'm a complete beginner! What do I need to connect a Pi 3 to a breadboard. I don't have a breadboard so I would be happy to buy a kit.

A starter kit like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Smraza-Breadbo ... B01I0ZEK48 would give you plenty of scope for experiments.

You might also consider adding a little board like http://rasp.io/portsplus/ to help avoid misconnections on the Pi

Or do a search for "Raspberry pi Cobbler" - that will bring up a whole range of connectors from Pi to breadboard which combine the benefits of the previous post with actually getting the connections on your breadboard.

(I just use jumper wires myself - but the cobbler boards probably make it safer!)

Instead of buying on of those you can print your own and just punch out the holes using a sewing needle and slip it right over the gpio pins just the same, easy to replace once it gets a bit warn being paper you can also make notes on it.

Here's my version if you want to try it, down load from google drive link
