Using pi 3 to capture 1 MHz, input singnal

Hello everyone,
Due to my topic. I would like to use Pi3 to capture (and counting ) the number of input pulse.
The maximum frequency of the pulse is at 1 MHz .
By using Python, I can capture the input signal at ten of kHz.
Do we have a special input pin for triggering and counting as in micro controller?
By the way,
I did the experiment on generating the output pulse using C. The resolution is at 2 uS. (http://codeandlife.com/topics/raspberry-pi/)
