start lamp anew on pi3

Thu Nov 23, 2017 12:03 am

Hello, awhile ago I installed LAMP on my Pi3, now I would like to remove all LAMP modules specifically all php 5 and mysql modules so that I can install php7 and maiadb, how do I remove and purge them completely without reinstall the entire OS? Thanks.

You can install Webmin and do it from there. You tend to still have garbage left even with Webmin. I would personally save your files from your Home folder and then put a new image on the SD card.
Ren: Now listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? Ren: Don't touch it! It's the History Eraser button, you fool! Stimpy: So what'll happen? Ren: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good.

you can just use apt-get or aptitude. apt-get purge php5
you can search the package names using aptitude search <name> or apt-cache search <name>

Thanks for the replies. I think I manage to remove all old php5 now I have maraud as well
However, install phpmyadmin and database always confused the hack of me, it is so tedious and time consuming. In marimdb I set a root user pwd. I can sign into mariadb just fine, but I just can't sign in from phpmyadmin. It keeps giving me 1698 user root access denied, why?
