I'm looking for suggestions for a motor controller hat for a beginner, using a Pi 3 Model B.
I've been playing around getting motors working using what I have on hand, which is just a couple of TA7291P chips. They are ok, but painful to setup and use. Have set it up to drive two motors with integrated gears (part of a eBay kit I bought). Have also added in an IR sensor for obstacle avoidance (waiting for some ultrasonic sensors to arrive). Going great, but I know it would be easier and have more potential with a motor hat.
I've been looking at the Adafruit DC and Stepper Motor Hat (https://core-electronics.com.au/adafrui ... i-kit.html), but I'm a bit wary as I've never soldered before, and wouldn't want to wreck it before even using it. Is this a good option, or can someone recommend something better?
