ip prob on setting up pi3 and c270 USB cam im not on 192.168.1

Tue Nov 07, 2017 4:05 pm

Hi'
Im trying to set up a logitech c270 cam on my pi3. i have Ethernet cable connected to the pi, But would like wlan as the final result.
1) ive downloaded motioneyeos
2) put it on sd card using etcher
3) booted the pi into the setup and all done

this is where im stuck
4) its at the login stage and tells me my ip is 192.168.1.78
this is not true because all my ip address are 192.168.66.etc so i can't connect to the pi on that ip and if i try and simply type 66 in place of the 1 then that don't work ether.

i need to some how tell the pi im on 192.168.66 and not 192.168.1 why could the pi not get this info from the router at the beginning? after all it is connected to it via lan cable.

maybe im missing the point here but i cant do anything with this until i get the ip problem sorted, Any help would be appreciated.

if you use any third party hardware or software you might be wrong here,
still you can hope that someone here has used it and can help you

but minimum is that you give a link where you get it from

i not know this but it looks interesting:
https://github.com/ccrisan/motioneyeos/ ... stallation
idea is that you connect with ethernet to router and powerup RPI board
and router give IP ( by DHCP)
( why would your router give a 192.168.1.x if it is at 192.168.66.1 ( 2 WAN config?)
sorry i think it is not a RPI problem, check router )

for wifi preconfig see https://github.com/ccrisan/motioneyeos/ ... figuration
and make wpa_supplicant.conf ( from PC ) b4 first boot
or edit
sudo nano /data/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
later

Hi.

If you have connected you pi to your router and it is set for DHCP addressing and you have been given the IP of 192.168.1.78 then I would say that looks correct as most broadband domestic routers use 192.168.1.X or 192.168.0.X address ranges.

If you say you think you are using 192.168.66.X IP address range then how have you set this up on your other devices ? and can they actually connect to the internet ?

if you wanted to use the 192.168.66.X ip address range you would have to change the settings in your router to reflect this, from the information you have posted it does not look like you have done this.

I would suggest you look at some of the other PC's connected to your router and see what IP address they have been given by your routers DHCP.

you can safely post internal IP address as they are common to most routers and present no security risk.
