power multiple pi zeros from usb powered hub?

Thu Aug 31, 2017 12:09 pm

i'm looking to run a few Pi Zeros in cluster, but have limited power sockets.
could i power, say, three or four Pi Zeros from a powered USB hub?

i was looking at these two
Anker PowerPort 60 W 6-Port - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-PowerPor ... Technology

Anker 40 W USB Charger PowerPort 5 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Charger- ... anker+40+w

the Pi Zeros will be running headless with just power and ethernet (via the other micro usb port on the pi).

I do not see that as a problem. I have powered a mixture of Pi3 and P0W from the 60W one without issues. You do want to ensure you have good USB Cables to avoid getting continual low voltage warning appearing onscreen.
