In case anyone is watching this or stumbles across it, I downloaded the source and successfully built it to drive SPI devices through /dev/spi* with:

Code: Select all

make CONFIG_ENABLE_LIBPCI_PROGRAMMERS=no CONFIG_ENABLE_LIBUSB0_PROGRAMMERS=no CONFIG_ENABLE_LIBUSB1_PROGRAMMERS=no
It appeared to work, typing

Code: Select all

./flashrom -p linux_spi:dev=/dev/spidev0.0
but nevertheless failed to detect the flash on a Bluetooth chip I wanted to reprogram.

And I can now confirm that it builds successfully following the recipe referenced by Dougie, i.e.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install pciutils libftdi-dev libusb-dev libpci-dev libusb-1.0
make flashrom
(On further research and reflection I've concluded that the SPI port I was accessing is a debug port, not a flash rom port, hence I didn't see any rom. There's a separate I2C rom chip on the board which I guess contains the settings I wanted to get at.)
