You need a 2G / 3G / 4G Modem depending on the country you reside in and the Internet Service Provider you have a contract with........

I am in UK and use a MiFi, though it states Wireless, it can be used as a USB Modem:

I picked up and am using these two

GSM/GPRS. http://sixfab.com/product/gsmgprs-shield/
< 100kbps download and jpload

3G/4G shield. http://sixfab.com/product/3g-4glte-base-shield

3G card for said shield http://sixfab.com/product/quectel-uc20- ... 3g-module/
< 15 Mbps download
< 6 Mbps upload

4G/LTE card for shield http://sixfab.com/product/quectel-ec25- ... te-module/
< 100Mbps download
< 50 Mbps upload

Both provide location services, the GPRS one via cell tower location, the 3G and 4G have GPS/GLONASS

Both provide access and use via GPIO pins or USB and are powered through GPIO or USB
