RCA Video Problems

So I've been trying to get my Pi set up with the RCA Video as the primary output (I don't have a HDMI compatible tv/monitor).

I've have the 16th August Debian Wheezy image and I have set the sdtv_mode=2, as I'm in Europe. The Pi's red light comes on and the green light flashes intermittently. BUT I don't have any picture on my monitor (which has and RCA input) or my TV.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I can try to get a picture!

Just a standard "it doesn't boot problem", with the standard "read the problems shooting wiki" answer, that is check power supply/cable, check if SD-card writing is done right, and whether your downloaded image is uncorrupted, and your SD-card is compatible.

The main point is that unless your PI can successfully read your card, nothing at all will appear on screen, as the GPU is only turned on after it has read its firmware.

It doesn't matter if your screen is using composite or HDMI.

Thanks for the tips, I had overlooked that Wiki.

I've checked the power supply (it charges my phone), I've checked the card I'm using is on the list of cards that work, I can't check the video cable as I don't have any other means of checking it.

What's the best way to check that the image has installed correctly on the card?

As was mentioned earlier, plug an ethernet cable in. If it has booted, three LEDs will come on. If they don't, then it hasn't booted.

I'm in the same situation. I can't view the image on the TV with PAL standard (I set the parameter into config.txt).

What leds light up if you plug the Ethernet in?

the yellow lights engerize.

Is the TV set to the proper input.
Most TVs have some sort-of a Menu that allows you to select a video input other than TV tuner.
