Pi as a home theater system

Wed Mar 29, 2017 6:51 am

Hi all,

I am fairly new to the pi family. I introduced the pi to some of my little cousins and they want what all kids want : to use it for games and movies.

I tried playing crackle or tubitv on the one that they were using buthe it was not successful. Does anyone more experienced have some tips or guidance on games and free movie websites that could be played or watched on the pi ? Thank you in advance for any input.

Hi,

When you say not successful - do you mean that you couldn't connect to the site/videos or that they didn't play very well? I suspect playing videos through a browser is not the most ideal way to run video on a RPi.

In terms of games are you looking for simple games or current high end games?

Hi Mark,

We tried to run both in the browser. One was too slow to load ( we never got past the first page ) and the other (tubi tv) did not load at all.

As for games, I have a 3 years old at years old and 4 teenagers for cousins. The pi is the only source of entertainment sometime, so whatever games you propose is welcome.

Thanks,

Asgnwa

Try this:

https://retropie.org.uk/

It will play games and you can install Kodi.
