SD card boots only partly in RPI, undetected elsewhere

Tue Jan 31, 2017 7:52 am

Hi everyone,

On RPI, the card seems to boot as usually, at least, there are no red warnings. The screen gets black, a small thermometer appears in the upper right corner and nothing else happens.

XP does not detect the card, tried on two computers.
W7 does not detect the card, tried 2 ports.
Ubuntu16 does not detect the card, tried two slots.

As it is the fourth card I bring back to my dealer (three of them due to RPI) in about two years, I fear he will welcome me with a shut gun the next time I appear.

Any idea?

what make of micro sdcard ? post links
do you have an SDHC adapater in the computer and not a plain SD card adapter [if it is built in it may be SD]
what size of micro sdcard ?
you can get a usable usb to sdcard adapter for <£1
where in the world are you?

how are you writing the image to the sdcard ?

Sure, it is a micro SDcard and I use a USB adapter. It gave me the idea to put the card into a microSD to SD adapter and try it in my camera. The camera did not complain, so I started Win32DiskImager.

Thanks.

I suppose you are puzzled by my IP address - I expatriated to Slovakia to a lost village. The good side is 0 dB at night, I get visits from deers, foxes, hedgehogs and hares, the bad side is that electricity is distributed by a subsidiary of Electricité de France.

I cannot see your IP address , and have no need, asking where you are is just so that it may be easier to say where to purchase things if you need ...

if your PC can see the card to use win32diskimager then it can see your card ?
are you sure that the cards are not fake ?
