Concept behind wireless sensors...

Fri Dec 23, 2016 12:02 am

I'm new to the pi. I've had one lying around for a few months and I want to start using it.
I have it attached to my Wifi network and want to start adding some simple sensors around the house...
Let's say I start with a reed switch to monitor the garage doors.

I'm wondering how I would get the switch onto the wifi network...
I know I don't need another pi but I'm not sure about how to go about getting this sensor or any sensors onto my network.

thanks

If you really want to use WiFi , you should look into ESP8266 modules.

• Don't like the board ? Missing features ? Change to the prosilver theme ! You can find it in your settings.
• Don't like to search the forum BEFORE posting 'cos it's useless ? Try googling : yoursearchtermshere site:raspberrypi.org
