NetBeans install on RPi3

Wed Nov 23, 2016 12:47 pm

I have the latest version of noobs, and did the apt-get upgrade/update.... and went to the Add/Remove Software menu in the desktop UI.

I notice that when I search for NetBeans, it only lists NetBeans 7 (and not 8). Why doesnt v 8 show up?

Is there a preferred way to install the latest netbeans onto my Pi3?

Should I go to netbeans.org and download the platform independent package?? Or should I try with apt-get install? If the latter, what's the name of the package? (or how do I find it out?)

Thank you

Well, I successfully downloaded and installed NetBeans on the RPi3... created a new project, wrote a hello world java application.

It took 33 minutes 42 seconds to build!! I then did a clean and build, which took 4 seconds.

Ok, this can't be normal. Should I expect better performance?
