Hi, wifi dongle installing...

Tue Oct 18, 2016 12:01 pm

i have a pi and i want to use it as a media centre.

i bought a wifi dongle tplink (TL-WN823N) as it will not be in a position for a wired connection.

if i install Raspbian it detects device, loads in the driver, all good.

if i want to use openelec or rbmc etc i cannot get the dongle to work!

i can't seem to find a good tutorial anywhere!

i think i have to tell the pi to use it and install drivers through cmd. but it appears beyond me and it is getting frustrating.

any help appreciated, thanks.

You need to install the module (AKA driver) for it.
Check this link.
http://www.tp-link.com/en/download/TL-W ... tml#Driver

After downloading, install it into the modules directory that exists on whatever OS you are using.

TPLink card appears to use RTL8192CU chipset, thus any trouble shooting should be involve the 8192cu driver.

You can try the openelec fork libreelec, or osmc. They might work for you.
