Where is a good HOW TO guide?

Sat Oct 08, 2016 5:47 am

The instructions on this seem to be geared at people who already know linux well. Most of the time I have to post a question in the forum or look for someone else who already asked my question.

An operating manual would be nice. I did take linux in college years ago but all the syntax is different now. Fells dumb to learn by asking single questions instead of learning the basics then building upon that.
New to Linux, Keep in mind I'm legally blind, so my questions may seem dumb. Yes, I did a search, that's why I'm here. Links to FAQ'a and youtube are a HUGE help.| MY OS: Pi 3B with Oct'16 Noobs Raspberrian, 16Gb SD drive, HDMI video, no extras

• Don't like the board ? Missing features ? Change to the prosilver theme ! You can find it in your settings.
• Don't like to search the forum BEFORE posting 'cos it's useless ? Try googling : yoursearchtermshere site:raspberrypi.org

Having met Carrie-Anne this week I'll recommend her book https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adventures-Ras ... 1119046025

If that's not your cup of tea then try Eben's book https://www.amazon.co.uk/Raspberry-User ... 1118921666

I recommend you to buy a good introduction book.
If you don't want to read a book, you can try youtube videos: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=linux

Quick note to look for the newer version, currently 4th edition which should be up-to-date with the new hardware and OS setup.
Though as it's the command line you are after, perhaps have a look through the PDF of this?

Conquer The Command Line, the first in The MagPi Essentials eBook range, is designed to help you learn to love the command line on the Raspberry Pi and other Linux computers…
