Dumping nodejs, studying python

Wed Oct 05, 2016 4:13 pm

OK, that's it! I went looking for my interface between nodejs and wiringPi, and found only one--which could only write to gpio, not read. Every interface with gpio that I've found either checks pins only at that moment, or only supports the original 26 pins.

Since several people have recommended nodejs, could somebody tell me what I'm missing? --or is server-side python the way I should have gone in the first place? I don't imagine a javascript:pigpio interface would be easy either. Wrong? Thanks.

Statements resembling facts are IMO only. "he" means "he or she", etc. "Mother Nature" is an abstraction, not a real spirit.

You may want to look into twisted http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/

It is a framework written in Python that makes creating dynamic web pages a snap.
Note that I use this framework, but have no other affiliation with them.

fivdi has done a node.js wrapper for pigpio.

Check out the nodejs onoff package. I use it to access GPIO pins on a Raspberry Pi 3.
I do all my Pi stuff in nodejs.

https://www.npmjs.com/package/onoff

--Sorry I've been so slow getting back. I appreciate your answers, and I shall try fivdi and onoff under node.js. If it doesn't work, I shall get twisted. Thanks.
