Raspi zero - Where to buy in Europe (not UK....)

Fri Sep 09, 2016 10:07 am

Hy!

Would love to improve one of my projects with a Zero with cam interface (and the necessary flat cable, of course), but where to buy one (not more allowed, I saw) in Europe with decent costs for shipping?

Any help highly appreciated!
Kind regards

They're only available from four suppliers world-wide. Two in the UK, two in the United States. There are no other suppliers in Europe.

http://whereismypizero.com/ shows you where you can get one (excluding Microcenter in the USA).

4.00 to 7.50£ for shipping depending on the country is that "indecent" ? Or are you unlucky to live where only UPS shipping is available ?

I filled a basket with 1 Zero and one cam cable and on checkout it was 21 to 25 (pound? dollar? don't remember really...) for shipping. Went to the next shop, there was no cam cable then I gave up. Third shop I saw from the beginning it was in the US and gave up.

Do I really have to fill 4 baskets to find a decent shop? I accepted in the meantime that the product is not made for my world. OK, strange, but if raspberry.org thinks this is the way to do business...

;-)

Yeah, maybe that's an option.

But how to get the cam cable? ;-)

Is it theirs or is it nobody wishes to stock them in your country.

(I don't know).

How hard did your dealer try? Did your dealer contact Raspberry Pi (Trading) Ltd. with a view to becoming a supplier?

It's a raspi shop dedicated to these small boards and his reply left no room for any speculation that he would be very interested to sell these boards, too (why not? he has all the raspi stuff...).

But apparently no way for dealers outside US/UK.

Guy from Canada? I'm looking for EU... ;-)

I'm not a dealer, I can tell you that I checked more than a dozen shops in Germany, Sweden, France some priceing portals etc. result: NONe, zero, nothing

And you want to tell me that all these dealers don WANT to sell the zero? Come on.... ;-)

The factual reply was in the first response you received. There are two suppliers in the EU, but because they are in the UK you have chosen not to use them. (Either that, or they are unable to ship to your location.)

Other than the recent addition of Canakit, thus proving that RPF/T are prepared to work with other potential suppliers, that has been the case since the PiZero was launched.

This ground has been covered in many forum threads since then: I see no point going over it again.

So, nobody in the EU wants to sell the zero, yes?

Hmmm.

We can stop the discussion here, will find no end, I guess. The only question open here is apparently, who has the final post in this thread, hu? ;-)
