Sat Aug 25, 2012 6:23 pm

My monitor is now displaying everything in shades of green. Why is it doing this?

Detail Required
What image
are you running command line
have you kicked off startx and have a green background gui

Insufficient detail to proceed. ;)

Answer could be a simple as your monitor is broken

I'm using the version of Debian for the pi. The screen is constantly green, before and after i run startx. The monitor test screen is displaying normal colours, it's just the pi showing green.

Still kind of incomplete but if you are getting a green screen it could be an incompatible monitor that is nor translating the signal from the Pi, if everything is green but you can see things in X then your cable is bad or not fully connected to the monitor.

Possibly you have it set in a screen mode that is not compatible.

More details would help, like what type of connection, what type of cable is between the Pi and your screen what type monitor is it, TV ,computer monitor etc.

Really need more details to help you with any precision.
If you are more worried about ,spelling, punctuation or grammar you have probably already missed the point so please just move on.

Still not enough ;)

Ok have you looked at the noob support stuff on the wiki like

http://elinux.org/RPi_Noob_Guide_to_the ... g_an_image

this is not the only option.

If you are using HDMI and the plugs are not in properly or is damaged you would get a green titnted screen but I suspect it is not this it sounds like you are seeing the blank monitor screen.

We need information on the state of the RPi led's what plugs are you using which specific image are you using there are a few nearly all are some version of Debian.

Are you seeing text and typing in startx or are you getting startx automatically

We can help but we need detail. Lots of detail

It looks like we are both having the same empass Vindicator

I had a similar problem today after starting up. The Pi had been off for several days. All the cables on my DVI converter were tight. I unplugged the power supply from the converter and plugged it back in and the problem was solved. Colors back to normal.
