pi zero doesn't power on with usb hub soldiered to it.

Sat Jul 09, 2016 10:32 am

Hello.

I just tried soldering an unpowered usb hub to the pi zero. I soldered the hubs power to PP1 the ground to PP6, DP to PP22 and DM to PP23. When I tried to power up the pi it wouldn't boot. I desoldered the wires and tried powering the pi again. It powered up normaly. Is there any specific reason for that?

It sounds like it should've worked ...

Was the hub working before?
What happens if you just connect the power and ground?
I'm wondering if it's got a short, and killing the PSU.
As far as I know, the 5v rail has no protection on it, so 5v in = 5v out.

Burngate's knowledge on that matter is not incorrect.

I desoldered the hub and reconstructed it and it works so it's not a problem with the hub. I haven't tried soldering it on again but I'm guessing it was a mistake on my part.
